The IC division of Acapella concentrates on the design and manufacture of Integrated Circuit for Fiber Optic Communications. In order to achieve low-cost, low power, full duplex communication along a single fiber at a single optical wavelength, Acapella implement Time Division Duplex (TDD) communication technique and is commonly called Ping Pong communications and present data rates extend from RS-232 to E2/T2.
Acapella is the leading suppliers of Ping Pong single fibre communications ICs which provide full duplex links without the need for expensive WDM optics. For low cost normal link budgets, the products can use a single LED for both transmission and reception. For higher link budgets but still at a reasonable cost, single wavelength Laser Duplex Devices are used.
